The number of pupils with special educational needs has increased in North Rhine-Westphalia.
With 140,950 children in the 2020/21 school year, it was around 2.5 percent more than in the previous school year, as the State Statistical Office IT.NRW announced on Thursday.
Around 78,150 children were taught at special schools - an increase of 1.3 percent.
Düsseldorf - 62,805 boys and girls with special needs - for example with severe learning impairments or physical handicaps - learned at general schools together with children without disabilities.
This corresponds to an increase of 4.0 percent.
