The rainbow day care center in Eching has a new head: Tanja Sandrock takes over the tasks from Christina Zimmermann, who wants to reorient herself.

Eching

- “Break out of the ordinary and dare to do something new”: This characterizes the change in management in the Evangelical day care center Regenbogen on Goethestrasse in Eching.

With the official start of work on August 1st as head, the 35-year-old Tanja Sandrock took over the position of her predecessor Christina Zimmermann, who headed the four-group facility with over 90 children for four years.

Zimmermann: "Have courage and start a new adventure"

"It feels a bit like a circle is now coming full circle when I leave this house, which has been with me for a total of twelve years, together with our daughter, who is now in first grade," commented Zimmermann wanted and planned change.

At the beginning she got to know the facility privately as a daycare mother of her son and as a parents' adviser, then professionally as an educator in the group of trees and the last time, at the end of Corona, as director and mother in personal union.

“Even if there is a little sadness, I still know that sometimes you have to have the courage to finish something familiar in order to be able to start a new adventure,” she describes her current situation.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.

With her successor, after 13 years of work in various areas within child and youth welfare, the signs were also pointing to change.

She “did not search specifically, but had her eyes open to something new, something different in terms of content, but in which one is definitely“ close to the people ”, explains Tanja Sandrock.

This is how she came across the job offer at Kita-Regenbogen.

During her first visit there, she was attracted by the warmth of the staff and the pleasant, family atmosphere and thought: "I am welcome here, I would like to work here."

The new daycare manager is also a deacon

The new Echinger day-care center manager was born in Munich and grew up in the Dachau district. She has been living in Garching for a few years. A decisive setting for her career choice as a Protestant deaconess and educator was the voluntary youth work in the parish. After her consecration as a deaconess in Rummelsberg, Sandrock gained a wide range of experiences, for about seven years as a team leader in a fully residential group for girls and boys with social and psychological problems Problems. Her heart, she says, beats for these young people, who often have poor opportunities to start a secure, "normal" existence due to family disadvantages such as violence, experiences of alcohol, drugs and other abuse. Most recently, as head of all-day education, she has been involved in the organizational and conceptual design of the model and implementation of open all-day classes and cooperative all-day education.

In her new management role, it is very important to her, on the one hand, to be able to spend time regularly in the group and with the wards, and, on the other hand, to maintain an open exchange in her 16-person pedagogical and housekeeping team and also with the parents - and to be accessible to everyone to be.

"I want to be a role model and offer the support and tools for independent and responsible action," she describes her self-image as the manager.

She likes to spend her free time with family and friends, for example at a game night.

She likes to travel and read, and she can cheer and cheer in the Munich ice hockey stadium as a fan of the EHC.
