However, the practice announced that the child was only allowed to see a doctor with a negative PCR test.

The mother then consulted two other practices, but they too made the same request.

"My child is sick and does not get any medical help, that annoys me very much," added the woman from Nuremberg.

It is about the principle.

“What symptoms can I go to the doctor with?” According to her own statement, she wanted to spare her daughter the procedure of a PCR test and the subsequent waiting for the result.

Nuremberg: doctor's practice does not act legally

According to the Bavarian Ministry of Health, a negative PCR test is not mandatory for a doctor's visit. "For practices in which medical, therapeutic and nursing services are provided or medically necessary treatments are offered, the following applies: A test certificate does not have to be presented", it says on the website of the authority.

In the case of the twelve-year-old sick girl, a spokeswoman for the Ministry of Health explains: "The rejection of patients who cannot show a negative PCR test [...] is only conceivable in individual cases if, despite all protective measures taken, an unacceptable risk to the doctors , the practice staff or other patients. ”A requirement for a negative PCR test is therefore not easily possible.
