The Russian Federal Security arrested 14 terrorists involved in financing the so-called Hayat Tahrir al-Sham terrorist organization “the former Al-Nusra Front” in a number of Russian regions.
The TASS news agency quoted the Public Relations Center of the Federal Security Service as saying today, "The Federal Security Service arrested 14 terrorists involved in financing the terrorist organization Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham, banned in Russia and active in Syria, in Moscow, the Republic of Dagestan, Khabarovsk Territory, Kurgan, Penza, Ulyanovsk and Samara."
The center explained that during the search operations in the detainees' files, means of communication and tools about illegal activities and extremist religious publications were seized.
The security services began investigating criminal cases against 5 of the detainees under the Russian Criminal Code for “aiding terrorist activities.” Operational search activities and investigation procedures against other detainees are continuing.
