The police arrested an 82-year-old man in Pirna (district of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains) who is said to have put screws into cheese in a supermarket.
A shop detective caught the man in the act on Wednesday, the police said on Thursday.
He watched the suspect put screws in cheese and open a bottle and tip over.
Pirna - The detective held the man until the investigators arrived.
On Wednesday, the police announced that strangers had repeatedly tampered with goods in the supermarket over the past two weeks.
In five cases, a screw was discovered in cheese or meat salad.
In other cases, overturned and opened wine and oil bottles were on shelves.
According to the police, it is still unclear whether the 82-year-old may have also committed these acts.
