An explosion and fire accident occurred in a residential unit in Sheung Shui.
At about midnight on Thursday (14th), the police received multiple fire reports, stating that a middle-level unit in Caihu Building, Caiyuan Village was on fire and there was an explosion, and there was fire in the unit.
It is understood that the 53-year-old Li Nan of the burning unit was known to live alone in the unit. At the time of the incident, he repaired the pipe of the stove by himself and suspected that the pipe of the gas pipe was loosened, but he failed to repair the pipe.
During this period, a fire and explosion occurred while he was eating smoke in the toilet of his unit. Li Nan tried to fight the fire but was unsuccessful.
At that time, other neighbourhoods worked together to rescue Li Nan and took him to the corridor to take shelter. Someone took out plastic wrap to initially wrap the wound for the injured person at home. Some neighbors tried to put out the fire by dragging their throats but failed.
Firefighters arrived at the scene and opened their throats to put out the fire. The incident is initially believed to be beyond suspicious.
As for Li Nan's hand, foot and head burns, he was sent to hospital by ambulance for treatment. He is currently in critical condition.
