Erding - The Erding City Library is back with entertaining readings for the whole family and much more.

It should come back to life on Aeferleinweg.

Life is returning to the Erding City Library. During the library weeks, the facility on Aeferleinweg offers readings for the whole family. "We are happy to be back at the start," says library manager Ingrid Müller-Heß, relieved. The compulsory Corona break had demanded a lot from the city library team. The house sees itself not only as a place to borrow, but also as a meeting place. Everyday life is only slowly returning. "Borrowing behavior is still difficult," says Müller-Heß and reports 30 percent less than before Corona. Fewer people are still coming, “probably also because of the 3G rule”. She shares this experience with other libraries in the region. On the other hand, “we have no discussions about the access rules. That is accepted ”.

While the 3G rule applies to normal library operations, access to upcoming readings is based on 3G plus.

Those who have been tested must therefore submit a PCR test.

So the visitors can take off the mask.

It starts on Saturday, October 23rd, with Silke Schlichtmann.

The Munich author reads from her book “Pernilla or why we didn't have to bite the bullet” at 3 pm.

The event is aimed at families with children from the age of seven.

Admission: 3 euros.

“She reads, sings and plays,” says Müller-Hess about the Munich author, who once delighted the children at a school reading in the city library.

A home game will follow on Saturday, November 13th.

Then Marina Neumeier from Erdingen will read from her trilogy “Heart overhead through time” as part of the youth culture days.

The 25-year-old's fantasy novels have been published by the renowned Piper-Verlag.

Guitarist Konrad Huber provides a musical accompaniment for the reading.

Admission is free.

On Tuesday, November 23rd, at 7.30 p.m., author and journalist Björn Stephan comes to Erding.

“The earth is blue only from space” is the name of his debut novel full of empathy, wit and melancholy, which was published in February.

It is about two friends growing up in a prefabricated housing estate and their first love.

Admission: eight euros, tickets are available in advance in the city library from October 26th.

The series of events also includes three school readings and ends on Tuesday, November 30th at 7.30 p.m. with Lotta Lubkoll.

She made a pilgrimage with her donkey from Munich to Venice and wrote a book about it, a bestseller.

In Erding she will read from “Hike, Happiness & Long Ears”.

Admission: eight euros.

Tickets will be available from November 2nd.

Registration is required for all readings by calling +49 (0) 81 22 408-140 or by emailing stadtbuecherei@erding.de.

All events are funded by the nationwide “Neustart Kultur” program.

From Wednesday, October 20, the traveling exhibition “The most beautiful books of the year” can also be seen for three weeks in Erding.

Since the lockdown, online lending has been booming via the Leo-Süd network, which now has 100 libraries.

Müller-Heß reports 4800 to 5000 loans per month.

The pick-up service has also proven itself.

And since April you can follow news from the city library via a blog at www.erding.de/stadtbuecherei.
