Photo artist and actor Stefan Hunstein presents his video installation “From Eternity to Eternity” in the St. Paul Church in Munich.

Seven luminous screens are attached to a matt black wall in the interior of the Paulskirche in Munich.

On each screen, a woman stands in the center, surrounded by an almost sacred glow.

Photo artist and actor Stefan Hunstein wanted to capture the aura of a total of 21 women whom he portrayed in his video installation “From eternity to eternity”.

After about two minutes, one of the female characters turns away, then another appears and looks straight into the lens with an open eye.

The facial features always remain relaxed and at most suggest a smile.

The individual motif does not gloss over or comment, the beauty should lie in the freedom of expression.

Munich: Neither film nor photo - 21 different portraits of women are exhibited in the Paulskirche

The women are of different origins, have colorful or simple clothes, and many wear jewelry. Regardless of whether you have long blonde hair, a bald head or a headscarf - each one has its own story. In order to take up his topic “From Eternity to Eternity”, the well-known Munich personality Stefan Hunstein * focused on women of “childbearing age”: The female sex gives humanity its offspring and thus ensures a piece of eternity - especially femininity according to Old Testament tradition was created by God.

The modern exhibition is a harmonious contrast to the neo-Gothic church. In addition to the moving portraits, there is a historical statue of the Madonna with a baby Jesus on her arm. If you expect a dark atmosphere in the church, you are mistaken. Large windows let in so much light that the bright screens don't stand out. "People can find peace by focusing the work of art," says Pastor Rainer Hepler, who hopes for further collaboration with the Munich artist. The room invites you to linger, to pray or to meditate.

The longer you look at the women, the more the urge to talk to them, to have a dialogue, arises.

“From eternity to eternity” is the third part of Stefan Hunstein's series in St. Paul.

Previously, the creative Hunstein, who impressed with literary lectures in the past *, exhibited portraits of men (“present ...!”) And children (“future”).

The installation will run until March 1st, 2022, admission is free.
