After many years in which it faced financial difficulties and survived a closure, today it happened - the Italian airline Alitalia has finally closed.
The company stopped selling airline tickets last month and today, as mentioned, ceased operations.
The new airline to be called ITA is the one that will replace Alitalia and be the largest airline in the boot country.
The company will use some of Alitalia's aircraft and will likely also leave the branding of the previous company.
Alitalia operated on the routes between Italy and Israel for many years and was considered a convenient and inexpensive company even for flights to more distant destinations.
The new Italian airline will start flying to Israel as early as next month.
Tourism in Italy is booming
Israelis are allowed to enter Italy without isolation and the tourism situation in the country improves significantly with high demand for flights and hotels, especially in the tourist areas and among them - Rome, Milan, Venice and other tourist areas.
The morbidity situation in the country is good and it is defined by the Israeli Ministry of Health as a country with a low risk of infection in Corona.
