There is still a shortage of trainees in the hotel and hospitality industry in Baden-Württemberg.
"Corona has done a lot of damage to the training market," said Sofia Geisel, member of the executive board of the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DIHK), on Thursday in Stuttgart.
Last year, 21 percent fewer training contracts were concluded in the hotel and catering industry in the southwest than in 2019.
Stuttgart - The chambers of industry and commerce want to report current figures at the end of November.
Even before the pandemic, there was a lack of offspring in the southwest hospitality industry, said Heike Gehrung-Kauderer from the Esslingen-Nürtingen Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
"We can no longer exist without employees from abroad."

Between 2016 and September 2020, more than 2,600 immigrants began an apprenticeship in the south-west of the “Caretaker Program” sponsored by the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
