Through a deliberation allowing the transfer of land to a local public development company, the elected ecologists supported by

Setback for Anne Hidalgo's team.

This Thursday afternoon, environmentalists succeeded in curbing a new tower project in the 13th arrondissement of Paris.

They had tabled an amendment intended to bring down a cession of land recorded between the town hall and Semapa, the local public development company in charge of the Zac Paris Rive Gauche.

On this site which runs along the Seine, Semapa has planned the construction of a high-rise building (100 meters).

But without cession of land, the tower project is at least postponed.

That same morning, a handful of activists, including those from France Nature environnement Paris, gathered in front of the Town Hall to draw the attention of Parisian elected officials to this deliberation.

The executive, through the voice of Emmanuel Grégoire, first deputy in charge of town planning, issued an unfavorable opinion on the amendment defended by environmentalists.

But the environmental group in Paris has found a powerful ally on this issue since right-wing elected officials voted alongside them.

"We want a overhaul and we assume it"

The councilor (LR) of the thirteenth, Baptiste Olivier, has long opposed the development of the district programmed by the town hall. “Ten years ago, I denounced this district of towers. It's time to take over the file from start to finish! How can one on Wednesday palaver on urban forests and on Thursday spend a secret deliberation on such a project? Be consistent: review your copy, ”insists the elected representative on the right. “The 13th century lacks home ownership housing for the middle classes. We must build less but build better to get a foothold for those who want to acquire in Paris ”, asks Baptiste Olivier.

As for the Bercy-Charenton project located on the other side of the Seine, environmentalists are calling for a moratorium on the Massena-Bruneseau project.

“We want a major overhaul and we accept it.

We must meet the needs of Parisians.

Today, the City needs parks and affordable housing, ”insists Emile Meunier, elected (EELV) of the 13th century.

“It is a project which is based on the PLU in its modification of 2016 that the ecologists voted!

»Emphasizes Emmanuel Grégoire.

As for the other tours programmed in the district, "the project was validated through the Reinventing Paris competition", recalls the first deputy.
