The oak in Diessen also has to give way

Dießen - The felling of the two willows that characterize the townscape at the confluence of the Mühlbach and Ammersee has led to violent protest reactions from citizens and on social media. The first willow was infected with fungus and the other supposedly healthy one was in the way when the sheet piling was being set. In retrospect, it also turned out to be damaged (we reported). Now the big oak in front of the already demolished Rialto Bridge is threatened with the chainsaw.

And at the latest when the northern Mühlbach masonry, which has been badly jagged by the ravages of time, is renewed up to the railway underpass. According to Dipl.-Ing. Anita Schmid-Azar is still unclear. The project manager commissioned by the market town is currently busy with planning and costing. “Ideally, the wall renewal should be combined with the current construction work,” she says. “All machines and equipment are on site. A later renewal would result in significantly higher costs. ”The decision ultimately lies with the local council.

According to project manager Schmid-Azar, the oak that is then to be felled also has "dry damage". Due to the dry summers of the last few years, the tree, which was almost asphalted to the trunk, received too little water, as can be seen from the discolored leaves. In any case, replacement plantings are planned in the lake facilities.

This year, the bank wall in the Boxleranlage and the new Rialto Bridge are to be completed so that work can immediately begin in the northern part of the lake facilities up to the steamer jetty.

Because here the time window for renewing the bank reinforcement only goes until the construction work or until the start of the pottery market on May 26, 2022, which is to take place again to the usual extent after the Corona break.

The remaining part of the bank reinforcement from the Dampfersteg to the fishermen's huts will be tackled after the pottery market.
