Republican Mark Robinson, the lieutenant governor of North Carolina, said, without presenting evidence, that the children were indoctrinated in public schools.

Robinson said they teach them about transgenderism and homosexuality, something he described as "dirt."

The governor and LGTBQ associations have vigorously rejected his comments.
