The trade association sees politics as having a duty.

Munich - In the fight against the corona pandemic, the retail association HDE has demanded a right of information for employers. Companies should have the "right to ask so that they can find out which employees have been vaccinated against Corona," said HDE Managing Director Stefan Genth on Wednesday to

. So far, asking the employees has already been banned. It is "not to be understood that the legislature is not acting finally here". In the struggle for an effective fight against pandemics, "politicians are wasting potential".

A corresponding, time-limited exemption would, however, enable companies to assign unvaccinated employees “for activities with less intensive customer contact”.

"That would be in terms of employee protection and the protection of customers," said Genth.

Handelsverband HDE: Decision on compulsory vaccination is a matter of politics

With a view to a possible vaccination requirement for employees, however, the trade association was cautious.

This is a "decision made by society as a whole".

This is where politics and the ethics committee are called for.

In the past few weeks, the discussion about possible requirements for employees with customer contact had started.

For example, Lufthansa only wants to use fully vaccinated employees for its flying personnel.

Instead of a general vaccination requirement, the airline relies on a company agreement for flight personnel.

Compulsory vaccination: Bavaria with clear rules

The Bavarian state government only issued new vaccination rules on Tuesday.

After that, from Tuesday (October 19), employees and volunteers who have contact with customers or visitors must be vaccinated or have recovered from a corona infection.

Alternatively, employees must show a negative corona test two days a week.

The 3G rule applies to all public and private events, in sports facilities, hotels or universities.

If the operators only grant access to vaccinated and tested persons (2G) or require a PCR test (3G plus), the corresponding rule automatically also applies to employees or volunteers.
