Victims ombudsman: More psychotherapy places for flood victims

According to the Rhineland-Palatinate victim commissioner Detlef Placzek, the number of psychotherapy places for the people affected by the flood disaster in the Ahr valley must be increased urgently.

Placzek appealed to the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians and the health insurance companies to open the inpatient facilities for outpatient therapy places before winter.

Mainz - About 20 percent of people looking for a therapy place could not find one at the moment, Placzek told the German Press Agency in Mainz on Thursday.

Around 100 people have now contacted the hotline set up by the victim ombudsman because they were looking for a place for classic therapy.

More than 1000 people called the psychotherapeutic hotline.

"When it rains, the phones ring," reported Placzek.
