The service union Verdi called on retail salespeople in Berlin and Brandenburg on Thursday to stop their work.
Included in the warning strike for higher salaries are individual branches of the companies Ikea, Rewe, Kaufland, Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof, Edeka, Thalia, H&M, Primark as well as the Rewe warehouse in Mariendorf and the Kaufland warehouse in Lübbenau.
Berlin - The central strike location is Berlin's Breitscheidplatz, where there should be a meeting in the morning, the union said.
The reason for the warning strike was the still unsuccessful collective bargaining negotiations between Verdi and the trade association for the approximately 141,000 Berlin and 78,000 Brandenburg employees in the retail sector.
The next round of negotiations is planned for October 19th.
