Syrian writer Etidal Najeeb Al-Shoufi won the Katara Prize for Arabic Fiction in its seventh session, for her novel Delirium of Places, in the category of unpublished novels.
The winning novel sheds light on the Syrian situation in particular, and the Arab situation in general, and the conditions that Syrians have lived through during the last ten years, including migration and devastation as a result of the war on Syria.
In a statement to SANA's reporter, Al-Shoufi pointed out that her novel Delirium of Places was completed nearly two years ago and is about 227 pages long. whose results were announced yesterday.
The writer Al-Shoufi points out that she started her career in literature as a talent until she had a large number of thoughts, scattered narrative texts and very short stories, as the social networking pages helped her to participate in them within local and Arab groups, and her works were published in four joint books with Arab writers: The Beautiful Illusion and One Heart The two were issued in Egypt, the ears of ink issued in Algeria, and the letter from the Very Short Story Forum in As-Suwayda.
It is noteworthy that the writer, Etidal Al-Shoufi, was born in Salkhad city in As-Suwayda Governorate in 1968. She is a graduate of the Intermediate Medical Institute, specializing in laboratories, and works for the Public Establishment for Drinking Water in As-Suwayda.
The Katara Prize for Arabic Fiction has been organized by the Cultural Village Foundation, Katara, since 2014 under the supervision of the Arab Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), and this year 2,321 works from different countries participated in it.
