Moscow-Sana
Today, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova denied the existence of negotiations between Moscow and Ankara on the mutual recognition of Crimea as a Russian republic and Northern Cyprus as an independent state.
"We are already accustomed to the fact that there is such an interesting pleasure when, in particular, such fabricated gossip are made in the Turkish media," Zakharova was quoted as saying at a press briefing in response to a question about the possibility of such mutual recognition.
The Turkish army has occupied the northern part of Cyprus since 1974, when it invaded the north of the island and established the Republic of Northern Cyprus, which is recognized only by Ankara.
