A new explosion in a mosque in Afghanistan leaves several dead

An explosion rocked a Shiite mosque in Afghanistan's Kandahar city during Friday prayers, Taliban-led Interior Ministry spokesman Qari Saeed Khosty said.

Several people were killed and others injured, Khosty said without confirming the number.

Special forces are on the scene to find out the type of explosion and the people behind the incident, Khosty added.

So far the responsibility of the attack has not been claimed.

Last week, a suicide bomber attacked a Shiite mosque in the city of Kunduz, in northern Afghanistan.
