Explosions left at least 32 dead and 53 injured on Friday at noon in a Shiite mosque in the city of Kandahar, in southern Afghanistan, according to a medical source.

All the victims "were brought to Mirwais Hospital," a doctor at Kandahar Central Hospital said on condition of anonymity.

The explosion hit the Shiite place of worship, located in central Kandahar, at the time of the weekly Friday prayer.

A witness, who requested anonymity, said he heard three explosions, one at the main door of the mosque, another in its southern part and the last where believers come to do their ablution.
