Kiel - A 31-year-old has to go to prison for almost eleven years for a life-threatening attack with a baseball bat and revolver in Eckernförde.
The Kiel jury court sentenced the accused on Friday for jointly committed attempted manslaughter and joint dangerous bodily harm to ten years and eleven months in prison, said a court spokesman.
According to the court's findings, the men lay in wait for the victim on March 30, 2020 at his place of residence in the Domsland in Eckernförde in order to kill the man.
From the ambush, they surprised the then 33-year-old injured party and hit his head and upper body with the baseball bat.
The 31-year-old Armenian is said to have shot at least four times and hit the back of his compatriot's head twice.
The victim only barely survived and, despite multiple operations and weeks of hospitalization, has hearing and vision damage.
According to the court spokesman, the chamber chairman stated that the man had recovered relatively well overall.
The background to the crime remained unclear in the second trial, said the court spokesman.
A 28-year-old co-defendant has to pay a fine of 1200 euros for violating the Weapons Act (60 daily rates of 20 euros each).
Five cartridges were found during a house search.
According to the judgment, it has not been proven that he should have obtained the murder weapon, as the public prosecutor suspected.
