A sculpture of several animals standing on top of one another has been causing a sensation at the Hamburg Outer Alster since Tuesday.
The "Hamburg Town Musicians", as they are called by the unknown initiators based on the famous Bremen Town Musicians, are a statue consisting of a dog, a monkey, a rabbit and a rat.
Hamburg - It is a memorial that is dedicated to the animals shown there as well as "all the victims of animal experiments in Hamburg and worldwide," it says on the campaign's website.
Flowers lie in front of the memorial, and a dedication is engraved on the concrete slab.
The animal rights activists said they had erected the statue on Tuesday on the picnic area Uhlenhorst / Schöne Aussicht.
There is also a text for the sculpture in the form of a fairy tale in the tradition of the Brothers Grimm, which tells the story of animals tortured in experiments.
According to the initiators, at least three million animals are killed for research and teaching every year in Germany alone.
