Germering - Johanna Stadler has a high personal connection to the old village church due to many family events that were celebrated there. "Yes, you can say that it is an affair of the heart," she says in all simplicity. A weighty reason why she has been involved in the “Friends of the Old Village Church of St. Martin” since it was founded 20 years ago.

At the most recent annual general meeting of the almost 85-member association, Stadler was confirmed as an assessor, as was Peter Diermeier. Werner Cröniger remains the chairman, while Marcus Guckenbiehl continues to serve as his deputy. For the reporting period from November 2020 to October 2021, in view of the corona pandemic, they were able to draw a rather cautious but satisfactory conclusion. So the crib could remain part of the crib circuit of the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising. The village church was also illuminated from sunset to midnight between the first Advent and the Three Kings. “A wonderful sight when you come to Germering from the autobahn,” enthused Cröniger in his report.

In spite of Corona, the village church "has also been worshiped again", as the chairman of the support group explained.

This included requiem, word worship, or baptisms.

Cröniger hopes that weddings, Rora offices or Christmas masses can be added again soon.

The publication of an annual calendar will be retained.

The entire printed edition of 100 copies of the calendar with motifs of the Old Martins Church, which was produced for the first time in 2020, was sold.

Finances in order

Pastoral advisor Christian Kube was able to report on a more than solid financial status for the church administration. This resulted in an increase of around 1,300 euros in the reporting period. There are currently just under 33,180 euros in the reserve account for the organ, and around 140,680 euros in the reserve account for the village church. “The account is slowly growing,” said Kube, commenting on this development. Pastor Andreas Christian Jaster, as a guest of the meeting, took note of this with gratitude as well as the commitment of the association. The support group also keeps an eye on the historical significance, said Jaster. He had been able to attend the meeting because this time it was on a Wednesday and not on a Monday as usual.

Looking at the historical aspect, Guckenbiehl, as head of the city archive, again pointed out the excavation work in connection with the Post's support center.

The 6.7 hectare area offers a great overview.

Guckenbiehl hopes for the coming year to find out about the early medieval connection of the church to village life.

Looking back on 2001

Stadler looked back with a few moving words at the founding meeting of the “Friends of the Old Village Church of St. Martin”.

This took place on July 2, 2001 on the occasion of an information event on the condition of the village church.

41 of the 45 meeting participants are considered founding members.

Another support group had already formed around 35 years earlier to oppose the planned partial demolition of the old village church.

This sponsorship group only existed for a relatively short time.
