Will only Corona-vaccinated foods soon be available in the supermarket?

No way, says the trade association.

Because he asked his members about it.

Frankfurt / Main - According to a survey, the so-called 2G model is not an option for four out of five retail companies in Hesse. Only companies with product ranges that require a lot of advice - such as bridal wear and photo shops or opticians - can for the most part imagine only receiving people who have been vaccinated and recovered in their stores. This emerges from a survey of the Hesse Trade Association among its members, which was completed on Friday. Therefore, the vast majority of retailers will "implement daily access as usual," said a spokeswoman in Frankfurt.

For the Hessian supermarket chain Tegut, for example, 2G is currently “not an issue”, according to its own account. You don't see the need to change the hygiene concepts of the markets. "If someone - for whatever reason - does not want to be vaccinated, he remains a part of our society and must not be excluded when shopping for food," said a spokesman in Fulda. The Edeka stores will also remain “open to all customers”, announced their headquarters in Hamburg. The merchants organized in the cooperative association, however, decide independently “about all measures in their markets”.

The survey by the trade association largely coincides with the assessment of the state government.

Prime Minister Volker Bouffier (CDU) had already said at the start of the regulation, which was extended until November 7th, that he was assuming that everyday businesses tend not to make use of the option model.

The AfD parliamentary group spoke on Friday, however, of a "mandatory vaccination through the back door" and again called for an "immediate repeal of the 2G rule".

On Tuesday, Hessen expanded the 2G option model to include the entire retail sector - including the food retail sector.

Until then, the access model in retail was only allowed at events.

Operators in the culture, gastronomy and event sectors were able to apply the 2G rule beforehand.

Anyone who only allows vaccinated and convalescents into their rooms or shops can waive the requirement to keep a distance and mask.
