Brigitte Pistre, the voice of elected anti-wind turbines

Co-founder of the Vent des maires collective, the mayor of Frazé (Eure-et-Loir) became known for her hostility to the development of eo

The viewers discovered it on Sunday October 3 on France 5, in the program “C Politique”.

Brigitte Pistre, mayor without a label - but displayed support from Emmanuel Macron - of the small town of Frazé (Eure-et-Loir) since 2008, debated the large-scale installation of wind turbines against Jean-François Julliard, the director General of Greenpeace France.

Last April, she co-founded the Vent des maires collective with Michel Couder, her counterpart in Courcival (Sarthe) and Pierre-Emmanuel Picard, a resident of the same Sarthois village.

At the start, the collective's first idea was to contact the President of the Republic by mail.

But gradually, reinforced by the support of nearly 500 mayors, departmental and regional advisers, the collective has gained weight.

"At the beginning, I was not opposed to it"

Former teacher at Celsa in Paris (a large school specializing in information and communication sciences), now 68 years old, Brigitte Pistre has gradually built up her fight against renewable energies, in particular wind turbines which she had acquired. “Like everyone else

a rather favorable opinion: “It was for me the object of a dream before becoming a nightmare.

As vice-president of the Perche natural park, at the start of her mandate as mayor, a first opportunity to study a wind farm project - which ultimately did not come to fruition - presented itself to her:" was not opposed to it. But I started to hear the first dissenting arguments

 , ”

she recalls.

His counterpart Eric Houdas, elected at Méréglise and president of the ADERT association, awakens him to the risk of harm to people living nearby and to the threat to biodiversity.

This is when she begins to learn, participating in debates, conferences, listening to experts

addition to the nuisances for local residents, she discovered their intermittence and their unpredictable performance linked to weather conditions

His conviction is made:

wind turbines are, for her, a pipe dream

"Stop wasting billions of euros"

His fight today has a double dimension.

As mayor, this close friend of Stéphane Bern, his ally in this battle - who denounces the heritage nuisances - makes a point of honor to foil any wind farm project in and around his municipality.

And, as a citizen

its crusade is prolonged by its deliberate hostility against the massive deployment of technology throughout the territory. Brigitte Pistre defends nuclear power, relying on the recognized expertise of personalities such as engineer Jean-Marc Jancovici, whom she met during a conference in Nogent-le-Rotrou. When asked whether she would accept to host a power plant in her village, she answered with a frank "yes". All the more reason that global warming remains, in his eyes, "the absolute urgency

to be addressed. The fight of the century, in which this mother of two wants to take part. And, to do this

it takes out its toolbox: energy sobriety, fight against waste, greener modes of transport, development of other means of electricity production, exploration of other renewable energies.

Anything rather than "wasting the billions of euros put on the table for wind turbines," she concludes
