The European Commission has approved an aid scheme of 31.9 billion euros from Italy to support companies affected by the coronavirus emergency.
The scheme was approved under the temporary framework for state aid measures.
The scheme, which will take the form of limited aid to meet the need for liquidity and support for uncovered fixed costs incurred in the period between March 2020 and December 2021, will be open to all companies, regardless of their size and sector in which they operate (with the exception of the financial sector).
