The traffic light parties see themselves on the way to a "progress coalition".

The CSU, on the other hand, attested “left-wing dreaming”.

Environmentalists are also concerned.

Berlin - The SPD, the Greens and the FDP agreed on an exploratory paper very quickly - and spoke quite frankly on Friday of sometimes painful compromises.

Of course, not without praising an “opportunity for modernization” or a “progressive coalition”.

The current and possibly future opposition sees it quite differently: From the left, but above all from the CSU, there was sometimes harsh criticism of the plans.

Traffic light explorations: CSU railed on conclusion paper - "left-wing dreaming"

The result paper presented by the traffic light parties was "not a basis for a progressive coalition, but for left-wing reverie," said CSU regional group leader Alexander Dobrindt in Berlin.

"The traffic light is clearly red."

Dobrindt accused the parties of introducing tax increases through the back door “by abolishing so-called subsidies”.

The “traffic light” agreements threatened “a communitisation of debts in Europe” as well as a “turning away from the principle of humanity and order” in migration policy.

Greens, SPD and FDP before coalition negotiations: Linke mainly reads “poetry” - but praises basic child security

The criticism from left parliamentary group leader Dietmar Bartsch aimed in a different direction: "The exploratory result reads like a 'book of noble projects' - little concrete, a lot of poetry," said Bartsch to the newspapers of the Funke media group.

The financing questions are also "vague to open".

Above all, the left parliamentary group leader criticized the fact that a redistribution was not taking place.

Bartsch, on the other hand, positively highlighted the plans to introduce basic child benefits.

“A basic child benefit is certainly the right step,” he said.

Green in the traffic light: Environmental aid is already criticizing - traffic plans are facing headwinds

A warning also came from environmentalists. “The many dark sides and question marks that the SPD, Greens and FDP show, especially in the transport sector, are absurd. A speed limit with CO2 savings of millions of tons per year is refused, ”said Jürgen Resch, managing director of Deutsche Umwelthilfe. "The early phase-out of coal and the announced expansion campaign for wind and solar energy are important steps to achieve the climate targets," added his colleague Sascha Müller-Kraenner.

At the end of their exploratory talks, the SPD, the Greens and the FDP presented a twelve-page result paper that is intended to serve as the basis for coalition negotiations.

The prerequisite for the start of these talks is the approval of the respective party committees - the SPD board of directors already agreed on Friday afternoon.
