Before the start of the autumn holidays in Lower Saxony this weekend, the German Hotel and Restaurant Association (Dehoga) is calling on travelers to find out about applicable 2G and 3G regulations at the holiday destinations in advance.

Different regulations apply from district to district, said the managing director of the German Hotel and Restaurant Association (Dehoga), Renate Mitulla.

“Our big request is therefore: Inquire beforehand at your company what it looks like,” said Mitulla - for example with a view to guests who want to travel to a family celebration during the holidays.

The Lower Saxony Corona Ordinance stipulates that the 3G rule is mandatory for warning level 1 or an incidence over 50 in a district.

This means that access to restaurants, for example, is then only available to those who have been vaccinated, those who have recovered or who have been tested.

In those places where there is no warning level and the incidence is below 50, businesses can decide for themselves whether they want to voluntarily use 2G or 3G.

After many difficult months due to the Corona restrictions, the operators of restaurants, cafés and pubs in Rhineland-Palatinate can breathe a sigh of relief again, according to industry information.

The main reasons for this are the elimination of many requirements for the catering industry, the prospect of permanent opening and the regained flexibility for the individual companies, such as the President of the German Hotel and Restaurant Association (Dehoga) in Rhineland-Palatinate, Gereon Haumann, the German press Agency said.

Schleswig-Holstein's students can also have themselves tested for Corona free of charge during the autumn holidays (October 4 to 16).

That goes in the test centers, but if necessary schools also provide test kits before the holidays, said Education Minister Karin Prien (CDU) on Thursday.

"The self-assessment after a negative Corona self-test then applies to schoolchildren like a test certificate from the test center."

The bottom line is that the proportion of companies that open according to 2G and 3G rules is roughly equal.

Some of the companies do not want to exclude anyone and stick to 3G, while others want to play it safe and have switched to 2G, said Mitulla.

With the 2G rule, only vaccinated and recovered people are granted access - in return, distance rules and the mask requirement can be waived.
