- The solar power from the motorway is within reach in Garching: Bürger Energie-Garching eG (BEG) will get their property for the photovoltaic system (PV) planned on the A 9.
However, the exact area has still not been determined.
The city council will make the final determination of the area in the coming session.
The planned PV system needs a size of over two hectares in order to be able to operate it economically.
This was endangered when the Autobahn GmbH of the federal government prevented the carriageway from moving up to ten meters - which would have left only 1.7 hectares of PV area.
The alternative, namely the extension to the west, was rejected by the city administration and numerous city councils, as they want to keep this area free as an extension area for the future building and recycling center as well as for sports facilities.

From the talks between the BEG managing directors and the administration, the compromise has now resulted to make at least the area east of the sports field temporarily available for the PV system.
For the majority of the councils in the building committee, this was again too little, and the expansion areas for the building and recycling depot should now - at least temporarily - go to the BEG.
“If the city needs the space at some point, then it should be allowed and able to access it,” pleaded Bastian Dombret (FDP).
Manfred Kick (CSU) agreed that this could be controlled and the extension areas could be extended annually within a clearly defined time horizon.

Mayor Dietmar Gruchmann (SPD) insisted that the recycling center was bursting at the seams, that the building yard with its 18 employees had reached the absolute maximum capacity limit and that there was still an urgent need for action during this term of office. "However, to keep an area of 24,000 square meters free for this, that seems like a lot to me," objected Albert Biersack (CSU), who appealed to the administration to first determine the actual space requirements. "15 years ago there was nothing at this point anyway", Harald Grünwald (UG) is certain, "too many other urgent building projects such as fire brigade, primary school or extension as well as the not insignificant financial effects still play a role". Talking about building expansion now,that doesn't exist at all, "I don't see any need for this at the moment," added fellow parliamentary group Florian Baierl.
The discussion was not yet sufficient to pass a resolution, until the next city council meeting at the end of October, the administration should hold further talks with those responsible at the BEG regarding the expansion area and the time frame for temporary use. “It is no longer necessary to change the zoning plan,” explained Gruchmann, “as it is a time limit. This contributes to a considerable acceleration of the implementation. "
The BEG, which has been looking forward to a decision for a long time, is looking forward to further constructive discussions, emphasized Managing Director Dominik Eberle.
"We would be happy about the expansion, because the larger the area, the better." The important thing, however, is planning security - "and for that," says Eberle, "we need a reliable time horizon that is then contractually guaranteed."
