Being immersed next to ballet dancers thanks to virtual and augmented reality: this is the world premiere offered by the ballet du Capitole, in Toulouse (Haute-Garonne) on the occasion of the Toulouse-Lautrec show by Kader Belarbi, from October 16 to 23.
The fifty or so spectators who have chosen the “virtual reality” option when booking will thus enjoy an optimal experience, seated in their wheelchairs but with the possibility of putting on their virtual reality headset during certain sequences.
"The impression of being able to touch the dancers"
“This has never been done during a live performance and I think, as Jacques Brel says, that it can be a superb treat for the spectators to be able to enter another story thanks to this technology, explains Kader Belarbi. .
Toulouse-Lautrec was a pioneer in cinema, photography, lithography and posters.
He is always on the move, so this technology is perfectly suited to his work and what it offers.
Seated in his seat, the spectator will have the impression of being able to touch the dancers or to plunge his gaze into that of Toulouse-Lautrec!

To better preserve them, the Toulouse company CLS follows the reindeer of Russia by satellite
Throughout the show, these spectators will have the choice between watching the ballet like other spectators, or wearing the VR headset when invited to do so by a light signal.
Thanks to the wireless headphones, they will see a three-dimensional spectacle during a dozen pre-recorded sequences of one to three minutes.
“The idea is not to disturb other spectators but to offer a unique experience,” explains Kader Belarbi.
And success is already there, since all the augmented reality seats have been purchased, for a supplement of 15 euros.
