Iran stressed the importance of maintaining stability in Lebanon and expressed its deep regret over the attack on peaceful demonstrators in the Tayouneh area of the capital, Beirut, yesterday.
Today, IRNA news agency quoted Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh as saying: “Iran is watching developments in Lebanon and believes that the people, the resistance, the army and the government are able to ward off sedition and thwart conspiracies that have roots in the Zionist entity.”
Khatibzadeh called on the Lebanese authorities to identify and arrest the perpetrators of crimes and sedition instigators.
The number of victims of the attack perpetrated by the Lebanese Forces militia in the Tayouneh area in Beirut rose yesterday to seven.
