The Jerichow Monastery, built by the Premonstratensians, is dedicating a new exhibition to the legacy of the order.
"Traces in the Brick" is a correspondence exhibition for the exhibition "With a Bible and a Spade" at the Magdeburg Cultural History Museum.
Jerichow is one of ten Premonstratensian locations in Saxony-Anhalt, Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Lower Saxony that are involved in the exhibition project.
Jerichow - The order was founded 900 years ago.
The exhibition in Jerichow can be viewed from this Saturday.
According to the information, the Premonstratensian monastery existed there from 1144 to 1552. The exhibition shows the spiritual and economic work of the canons.
One focus is on the art of writing and writing with the Brandenburg Evangelistar from around 1210, which represents the medieval book art of the Premonstratensians as a facsimile.
Lithurgical devices, the canons' clothing and an illustrated daily routine are intended to give visitors an impression of everyday life in the medieval monastery.
