JU boss Kuban: "If women say they want more influence, then women should run for office too"

The CDU is working on its renewal - and from the point of view of the head of the Junge Union, it could be significantly more feminine.

"If women say they want more influence, then women should also run," said Tilman Kuban, referring to the future CDU chairmanship.

"Personally, I would think that's very good." The Junge Union will position itself if you know the candidate tableau, Kuban told the "Rheinische Post".

The Junge Union, the youth organization of the CDU and CSU, starts this Friday in their Germany Day, a three-day retreat.

Numerous top politicians of the Union will be guests, in addition to the JU chairman Kuban, among others, the former Union parliamentary group leader Friedrich Merz and the current parliamentary group leader Ralph Brinkhaus.

CDU boss Armin Laschet and Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) are scheduled to appear on the weekend.

CSU boss Markus Söder canceled at short notice, and now Secretary General Markus Blume speaks for the CSU.

»More feminine, more digital, younger«

It is expected that the processing of the Union's electoral defeat in the Bundestag election will be the focus of the deliberations. According to Kuban, however, there will be no settlement after the disastrous union result in the federal election. "Germany Day will be a weekend of new beginnings," said Kuban. "Of course we will also talk about the election result, but we look ahead and discuss ideas on what the Union must change now," added the JU head.

Previously, the chairwoman of the women in the CDU / CSU parliamentary group, Yvonne Magwas, had already spoken out in favor of a dual leadership in the CDU with equal representation.

"A dual leadership definitely has advantages," Magwas told the editorial network in Germany.

And it must have equal representation.

The conference of the CDU district chairmen planned for October 30th had to seriously discuss it.

The CDU member of the Bundestag from Saxony complained: "We could be much further on the question: more feminine, more digital, younger."

In the federal election, the Union landed on its historically worst election result.

At 24.1 percent, it was more than 1.5 percentage points behind the SPD.
