The Secretary of Labor and Welfare Law Chi-kwong attended a roundtable meeting on foreign domestic helper services today (15th). He pointed out that about 1,900 foreign domestic helpers have come to Hong Kong since August 30 and 43 of them have been diagnosed with the new crown virus. The diagnosis rate is about 2.3%. This is lower than the highest level of 8%, reflecting that the risk of foreign domestic helpers' diagnosis is declining. The government will increase the quarantine facilities and daily quotas for foreign domestic helpers in due course.

At the meeting, Secretary for Labour and Welfare Law Chi-kwong pointed out that the number of confirmed arrivals of foreign domestic helpers is on a downward trend, and that Hong Kong has the conditions to consider relaxing the daily quota of foreign domestic helpers who come to Hong Kong and the number of quarantine facilities in Penny's Bay.
The designated quarantine facility, Penny's Bay Quarantine Center, can the daily quota be adjusted, Luo Zhiguang pointed out, "Relaxation means that more numbers are allowed each day. In theory, we can allow 60 to 70 people to come to Hong Kong, but it is only 45 per day. People come. (That is, the relaxation can make the quota of 60 or 70 people?) There is nothing wrong."
Luo Zhiguang also pointed out that the issue of contracts and working hours in the industry has been put down due to the lack of support from the business community and trade unions, but he hopes to formulate working hours guidelines for some industries during the term of office.
He pointed out that although it is not a compulsory measure and no punishment, it is believed to help narrow the gap in working hours in different industries.
