Memmingen - In their last game of this year's EWHL Supercup, the Memmingen ice hockey women defeated Almaty Aisulu (Kazakhstan) 3: 2 (0: 1/2: 0/0: 1/1: 0) after extra time.
The goals for the Indians were scored by Anna Rose, Savannah Rennie and Anne Bartsch.
Beaming faces among those in charge of Memmingen even before the game. For the first time in the season, head coach Georg Taferner had three complete blocks available, even if Daria Gleissner, Carina Strobel and Ronja Hark were still three defenders who were not ready for action.
In the goal of the Indians, Carina Bartsch and Julia Becker shared the operating times. A fast and intense game developed against the guests from Kazakhstan, who most recently failed as their country's national team in the Olympic pre-qualification to Italy, in which the Indians clearly dominated the game. However, the guests took the lead. Breanna Berndsen, Canadian in the service of Almaty, converted a rebound to 0: 1 (10th min.). After the first change of sides, the pressure in Memmingen increased and Anna Rose (31st) and Savannah Rennie (38th) rightly made a 2-1 lead from the deficit. Unfortunately, the hosts could not use their outnumbered situation in this phase and so the Asians equalized two minutes before the end with one of their very few opportunities to make it 2-2.In extra time, it was Indian striker Anne Bartsch who was able to mark the deserved 3-2 winning goal for the Memmingen women (64th).
After the exhausting last few weeks, the Indians women can now look forward to an extended weekend without training.
The team will not meet again until Tuesday to prepare for the difficult away weekend in Berlin (October 22nd to 24th).
