The Russian Foreign Ministry called on Lebanese politicians to exercise restraint and to work constructively after the events in the Tayouneh area in Beirut yesterday.
A statement issued by the ministry today said: “We call on all Lebanese politicians to show restraint, enjoy wisdom and return to joint constructive work in order to resolve the current issues on the national agenda on the basis of mutual respect and consensus and without external interference.”
"Moscow is deeply concerned about the growing political tension in Lebanon and we expect the Lebanese government to meet this serious challenge with great action and not allow the situation in the country to deteriorate," the statement added.
The number of victims of the attack perpetrated by the Lebanese Forces militia in the Tayouneh area in Beirut rose to seven.
