New construction of the Heißenbrücke will be more expensive

At their meeting at the end of October, the Fischbachau municipal council members will try for the third time, which has already been unsuccessful twice: to finally award the contract for the new construction of the Heißenbrücke. At their meeting at the end of October, the Fischbachau municipal council members will try for the third time, which has already been unsuccessful twice: to finally award the contract for the new construction of the Heißenbrücke.

The starting position seems better than ever: Apparently the municipality has two offers.

They are more expensive than planned, but affordable.

As reported, the new construction of the Heißenbrücke, which was first washed under and then washed away by the Leitzach, has been occupying the community for a long time.

The negotiations with the water management authority and residents dragged on.

This year in June the local council wanted to draw a line under the topic for the first time and award the new building contract.

For the new building, estimated at around 220,000 euros, the municipality only received an offer that was twice as expensive.

Cheaper materials are supposed to make bridges cheaper

Council members and the water management office decided that it was priceless, and that it will bear half of the costs.

So the committee decided to put the bridge out to tender again - this time with the option of lowering costs by using other materials, as long as the bridge's load-bearing capacity is maintained.

At the meeting at the beginning of September, the municipal council decided to make the second attempt to build bridges.

At this point in time, the tender was still running for almost two weeks.

In order to move forward quickly, the committee members authorized Mayor Johannes Lohwasser (FWG) to select the most economical provider in advance - as long as it stays within the budgeted costs of 220,000 euros.

With that, so the hope at the time, the subject would be settled.

Hardly any alternatives

Now that the call for tenders has ended, one thing is certain: Hope was premature. The award of the Heißenbrücke is again on the agenda at the meeting in October. Lohwasser is not allowed to award the contract himself, he confirms on request. Two offers have been received. Although he does not want to comment on the details - the council members should find out first - the procedure reveals: The new building will probably be more expensive than planned, but cheaper than after the last tender. Because, unlike back then, the water management office would be on board.

On October 25th, the council members have to decide whether the new building is worth the price to them.

Lohwasser also says that many alternatives hardly remain.

The community's premium hiking trail leads over the Heißenbrücke, and farmers use it as well.

If the council members vote in favor of the new building, it should start this year.

Construction of the Leitzach Bridge

The other bridge that Fischbachau has been planning for a long time will take longer: The Leitzach Bridge near Trach is still standing, but is also closed due to severe damage from the Leitzach. In the tender in June, the only provider asked just under half a million euros for the new building, although the municipality had also budgeted 220,000 euros in the budget. The municipal council also wants to have the bridge near Trach put out to tender. That takes longer because the use of cheaper materials for the bridge in Trach would also reduce the load-bearing capacity, explains Lohwasser. The administration is still clarifying with the locally affected farmer how they can solve this dilemma.
