Nuremberg - The renovation work on the Nuremberg * Imperial Castle has now been completed.
The Free State of Bavaria has invested almost 27 million euros since 2015.
"These were the most extensive structural measures to date on the Imperial Castle in four decades," said Finance Minister Albert Füracker (CSU) on Friday (October 15) according to the announcement.
In recent years, large parts of the Nuremberg landmark have been renovated, modernized and restructured.
For example, a new checkout area with a museum shop and new rooms for the castle administration have been created.
In the so-called Finanzstadel there is now an event room and a new museum depot.
In addition, an old battlement has been restored.

Nuremberg: Visitors are invited to drink coffee in the Burg-Café
Visitors to the castle can now drink coffee and eat cake with a view of the city: on Friday, Prime Minister Markus Söder *, Nuremberg's Lord Mayor Marcus König (both CSU) and Füracker opened a newly furnished castle café.
For 500 years until the 16th century, all Roman-German emperors resided, at least temporarily, in the Nuremberg Imperial Castle.
The castle was first documented as a royal estate in 1050.
At that time, the city developed into a trading center and financial center, and in the late Middle Ages was considered the “most elegant and best situated city in the empire”.
