Memmingen - As part of the electrification of the Munich - Memmingen - Lindau railway line, GoAhead Bayern will take over the operation of regional rail transport from December 12 this year.

On Wednesday two of the modern, white and blue painted trains were already on the road in the region for training purposes.

With Bavarian colors, modern design and a lot of comfort - this is how the new trains from GoAhead Bayern present themselves in the Augsburg networks (from 2022) and in the Allgäu electrical network. Except in Baden-Württemberg, where GoAhead has been serving two regional routes since 2017, the company is not present in Germany. That will change from December 12, 2021, because then the railway company, which has its headquarters in Great Britain, will take over the operation of the E-Netz Allgäu on the Munich - Buchloe - Memmingen - Lindau route. Modern electric low-floor multiple units of the Flirt type from the manufacturer Stadler are used on the connection. These have 200 seats in 2nd class, a further 16 in 1st class and 21 parking spaces for bicycles.

In the future, the new trains will travel more frequently and faster than before on the expanded and electrified route from Munich via Buchloe and Memmingen to Lindau.

From December onwards there will be a train every hour, and every other hour there will be a continuous train from Lindau via Memmingen to Munich.

The electric railcars cover the section in one hour and four minutes, around 20 minutes faster than before.

According to the company, nothing should change for passengers when buying tickets; tickets (including the Bayern ticket) can be bought at the counter or online as before.

They will apply to local transport on both Deutsche Bahn, Bayerische Regiobahn and Go-Ahead Bayern trains.

According to GoAhead, there will be more training trips in the next few weeks, like last Wednesday, before operations start in just under two months.

These will also take place again without passengers.
