A new study has found that millions of people who take cholesterol-lowering medication may be less likely to die from the emerging coronavirus.
And the Guardian newspaper reported that a study conducted by scientists at Karolinska Institutet in Sweden showed that the drug “statin”, one of the most popular cholesterol-lowering drugs in the world, can reduce inflammation of the blood vessels, and that its use was associated with a lower risk of death in
Corona patients.
The study included a review of the health data of 963,876 Stockholm residents over the age of 45 between March and November of 2020 to examine the relationship between medication and the risk of death from Covid.
The study pointed out that the researchers noticed that people who were prescribed a statin were less likely to die from corona, indicating the need for more studies to confirm this.
