The AfD failed in the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt to overturn the 2G option model.
A corresponding request was rejected by the other groups on Friday.
In a sometimes very emotional debate, AfD parliamentary group vice-president Ulrich Siegmund had accused the coalition of trying to put pressure on unvaccinated people with the “completely useless and divisive 2G rule”.
Magdeburg - CDU, SPD and FDP rejected this accusation.
The opposition factions, the Greens and the Left, opposed this and campaigned for vaccination rates to be increased.
"It is not 2G that divides this country, but the AfD," said the Green Parliamentary Secretary Sebastian Striegel.
Saxony-Anhalt's Minister of Social Affairs, Petra Grimm-Benne (SPD), confirmed that they wanted to stick to the 2G option.
This enables event organizers a higher capacity utilization as well as simplifications in organizational and financial terms.

In addition to a mandatory 3G regulation (access for vaccinated, convalescent and tested people), organizers and operators in Saxony-Anhalt have also been able to rely on the 2G option model for a few weeks now.
This offers the possibility of only admitting those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered.
Mask requirements, distance rules and capacity restrictions can then be dispensed with according to the containment ordinance.
