Affected by the new crown pneumonia epidemic and global travel restrictions, cumulatively, the number of visitors to Hong Kong from January to September this year was approximately 63,000, a year-on-year decrease of 98.2%.

The Tourism Board announced that in September this year, there were 6,955 mainland visitors to Hong Kong, an increase of 12% over the same period last year. In the first three quarters of this year (January to September), the total number of mainland visitors to Hong Kong was 46,051, year-on-year Tumbled 98.3%, becoming the largest decline group.

In September, there were 2,924 non-mainland tourists (including short-distance, long-distance, new market and Macau tourists), which was also an increase of 0.1% over the same period last year. Among them, there were 1,020 long-distance passengers, an increase of 5.7%, and short-distance passengers, 1,361, a decrease of 2.3%. In the new market, 288 people visited Hong Kong, a decrease of 39.1% from the same period last year.

The Tourism Board pointed out that it is actively preparing for the re-launch of a number of large-scale events and publicity in the market in the next few months, including the annual event "Hong Kong Food and Wine Parade", "Hong Kong New Year's Eve Countdown", and the " The "Reward You Tour" campaign aims to continue to promote a positive local atmosphere, stimulate the economy, support the tourism, catering and retail industries, and maintain Hong Kong's exposure and positive image in the Mainland and internationally.
