In Schwerin, a truck with a crane trailer hit a bridge on Friday morning.
As a police spokeswoman said, the accident occurred in rush hour traffic and caused significant disabilities.
According to initial findings, the crane's boom was probably not retracted far enough that the vehicle could not pass under the bridge in the western part of the city.
Schwerin - Bundesstraße 106 runs across the bridge as one of the most important access roads into the state capital.
The truck driver suffered a shock and could not continue driving.
The amount of damage is still unclear.
