In this industrial zone which represents a quarter of the city, the supermetro must serve a pool of 17,000 people. In addition to the f

“Tristoune.

This is the qualifier used by Jean to define the part of Ardoines, in Vitry (Val-de-Marne), that this young worker knows: the district of the RER C station, one of the two most large city of the department.

Characterized by its brownfields, it is in upheaval with the construction at the moment of the future station of line 15 South.

Work on the line began five years ago and is expected to last as long.

Halfway through its completion, the future automatic metro is revealed to its future users this Saturday during organized visits, in particular to the Ardoines.

Proof that the site is progressing rapidly: the rue Léon-Geoffroy is now closed to access when arriving by the A86.

In the distance, we can see the trucks taking part in this gigantic project: the future platforms of the Les Ardoines station will descend to a depth of 29 meters.

This central station of nearly 6,000 square meters will also be connected to the future infrastructure maintenance site (SMI) where the trains dedicated to the maintenance of line 15 will be parked.

"Considering the scope of the work, it will be impressive"

“We don't see what's going on below, but given the scale of the work, it will inevitably be impressive.

As a daily user I am impatient, ”explains Jean.

He lives in the 8-May district, a "mini-city" that he would like to leave a little more often.

"The metro will open up a horizon for us, that's obvious", rejoices this inhabitant who does not plan to move from Vitry.

The one in the city center, to begin with: with the future metro, it will be possible to reach it in three minutes compared to 22 currently.

Seventeen minutes will be enough to reach Noisy-Champs (Seine-Saint-Denis).

Les Ardoines, in Vitry, like the other main stations of the Grand Paris Express, will host a work of art.

Hicham Berrada will offer an “aquatic mise en abyme”.

SGP

According to the Société du Grand Paris (SGP), this Vitry station must serve a pool of 17,000 people. At the same time, it is accompanied by another project, which is more attractive to Maria, retired: the railway bundle. A “landscape bridge” which should make it possible to open up the entire sector, accessible by bus, on foot or by bicycle. “It's a project that impresses me much more because I'm not a big metro user. But that may change, ”slips the retiree.

For Josio, a “historic district”, the only downside to be feared is the “density” of the new Ardoines where 8,000 housing units must also be built.

"We are talking about thousands of more inhabitants here in a few years," explains this fifty-something.

For now, I have a hard time realizing.

According to SGP projections, 95,000 travelers should go to this Vitry station every day.
