In the wage dispute between the private bus companies in Rhineland-Palatinate, several hundred bus drivers stopped working on Friday morning.
Large parts of the country are affected by the one-day strike, said the Verdi union in Mainz.
In the DB Regio Mitte and Rhein-Mosel, among others, no bus drivers sat behind the wheel from 9.00 a.m.
Mainz - Just on the previous Friday, around 1,000 bus drivers in Rhineland-Palatinate went on strike.
A Verdi spokesman said there were fewer strikers this week due to the holidays.
In the collective bargaining conflict, the Association of Employers' Associations of the Transport Industry (VAV) Rhineland-Palatinate and Verdi have not yet been able to agree on a new general collective bargaining agreement.
The union is calling for wages to be raised and for downtime to be paid, i.e. for breaks during a work shift.
Around 3,500 bus drivers are affected.
