Western District Taxi Murder | 31-year-old man was temporarily charged with one count of murder to appear in Kwun Tong Magistrates' Courts on Saturday

The police said that the arrested man was charged with murder today (15th). He is suspected of being involved in a murder in the Western District on Tuesday in which a 48-year-old man died.

The case will appear in Kwun Tong Magistracy tomorrow (16th) morning.

The incident occurred at 4 o'clock in the morning on Tuesday. The 31-year-old suspect walked out of a hotel near East Street and boarded the taxi involved. Only about 1 minute later, he left the taxi and fled to the west of Des Voeux Road.

The 48-year-old taxi driver Wei Jianxiong shouted for help on the east street near Queens Road West. He fell to the ground after leaving the taxi and was rushed to Queen Mary Hospital for emergency treatment. He died at 6:17 in the morning. His right back neck was 7 cm long. The 2 cm deep scar is believed to be caused by a sharp weapon after forensic examination.

Police officers then seized a bag containing a kitchen knife and some clothing on the roof of a nearby building.

The police classified the case as a murder, and followed up with the fugitive, and described the case as "very violent."

After investigation by the police, it is believed that the suspect changed clothes in the district after the crime, and then boarded the ship to Lamma Island on the same day to evade arrest.

Serious crime officers went to Lamma Island to conduct a search operation on Wednesday. In the evening of the same day, enthusiastic citizens reported that the target was found outside the store. Marine police and uniformed personnel went to arrest the suspect on the spot.

When the suspect was arrested, he had no weapons, no resistance, and no superficial injuries.
