According to a publication in the journal Cell Press;

By studying ancient poop, found in the prehistoric salt mines of the Hallstatt-Dachstein area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in western Austria, the team uncovered some "surprising" evidence: the presence of two species of mushrooms used in the production of blue cheese and beer in historical samples.

The researchers say their findings show the first molecular evidence for the consumption of blue cheese and beer in the Iron Age in Europe.
