Wolfratshausen is getting a popular attraction back during the Christmas season: the ice rink on the raft landing is supposed to be back.

Wolfratshausen - Four years ago, the city had a temporary ice surface built on the old raft landing for the first time in winter.

Despite the financial deficit, there was a new edition in 2018 and 2019.

In 2020, the corona pandemic prevented ice-smooth fun.

On Thursday evening, the culture committee had to decide again whether an ice age should take place this year.

In his short factual lecture, town hall chief Klaus Heilinglechner (citizens' association) pointed out that according to the current Corona regulations, if the 3G rule is observed in the open air, up to 1000 visitors do not have to follow up on contacts and there is no mask requirement.

"As things stand now, the ice rink can be planned as in the 2019/2020 model," said the mayor.

The city has already ordered the cooling units, but could also cancel this order if the pandemic situation worsens.

The mobile ice rink and the heavy-duty floor should be commissioned by the beginning of next week at the latest.

Four out of ten councilors voted against in the culture committee.

Green spokesman Peter Lobenstein considered the Ice Age to be too risky not only because of the uncertain development of the incidence figures and the climate emergency declared by the city council.

He did not want to “agree to a deficit in the high five-digit range”.

In addition to Lobenstein, Susanne Thomas and Alfred Fraas (both CSU) and Manfred Menke (SPD) also refused to give their consent.

The latter suggested an inter-municipal alternative event with the neighboring town of Geretsried.

Dr.

Manfred Fleischer (Wolfratshauser List).

“If we want to be taken seriously as a city, we should definitely do the Ice Age alone,” he said.

Fleischer warned not to gamble away trust in the citizen.

Because at the end of 2020, the councils decided to postpone the ice age to winter 2021/2022.

Dr.

Ulrike Krischke (BVW) and Mayor Heilinglechner saw it the same way.

“If we cancel this now because of financial concerns, there will never be another ice age in Wolfratshausen.

We have to keep our word, ”emphasized Heilinglechner.
