More and more people suffer from mental illness.

Wolfratshausen now wants to take countermeasures: Day clinics for youth and adult psychiatry are to be built in Loisachstadt.

Wolfratshausen - There were two of the most discussed topics of the summer: The Wolfratshausen clinic was debated for months.

The effects of the corona pandemic on mental health, especially among young people, led to controversial discussions nationwide.

Now the municipality expects the hospital landscape to be upgraded.

Corona result: More mentally ill - a clinic is now to be built in Wolfratshausen

Psychiatric day clinics could open on Königsdorfer Strasse in the future.

The building committee cleared the way for a change in the development plan.

The district of Upper Bavaria has formulated clear goals: People with a mental illness should be able to receive outpatient and individual treatment as close as possible to their place of residence.

In Wolfratshausen and the surrounding area there is no adequate care in the field of adult psychiatry - the next offers are in Munich or in Berg am Starnberger See.

There is an outpatient clinic at the Heckscher Clinic on Obermarkt for children and young people.

However, the space available is limited.

"It was found that this outpatient clinic alone is not sufficient for the care of the underage population in the district," stated town hall chief Klaus Heilinglechner (BVW) in the most recent meeting of the building committee on Wednesday evening.

Wolfratshausen wants to strengthen the clinic location: Psychiatric facility on the way

Now there are plans to improve the care of mentally ill people in Loisachstadt: New day clinics for both adult and adolescent psychiatry are to be built at Königsdorfer Straße 17. Mayor Heilinglechner welcomes this plan of the hospitals of the district of Upper Bavaria (short: kbo). "Another clinic location would be an immense advantage and an important factor for the city," he emphasized. The field of treatment "continues to grow". Surveys recently made headlines that the need for psychiatric care has increased massively in the wake of the corona pandemic. "We have to be grateful that the kbo chose us," said SPD city councilor Fritz Schnaller. “The need is there,” added Dr. Hans Schmidt. In Wolfratshausen, the Ministry of Health holds 16 more places in the children's and youth,as well as 20 necessary in adult psychiatry.

They are to be created with a new building.

Two different building variants, which were discussed in the committee, would be conceivable on the area near the vocational and secondary school.

However, the individual variants were not made available to the public.

The committee favored a new building with an underground car park.

It would be a little less massive and fewer trees would have to be felled on the area to erect it.

Green politician does not want to forget tree protection - but sees a need for a psychiatric facility

Above all, the environmental officer Dr.

Hans Schmidt was concerned with the latter: He emphasized that as many trees as possible should be preserved that are on the property.

For example, a 16 meter high, at least 20 year old mountain elm that is more than three meters away from the planned new building, but could still fall.

In addition, the environmental officer has discovered large trees on the property that are not listed as plants to be preserved in the old development plan - and could therefore be removed.

"If the trees are secured, this variant could be approved for us," said the Green City Council.

The rest of the panel also approved the plan.

Only Richard Kugler (Wolfratshauser List) had concerns.

“A builder is a builder - regardless of whether we like what he wants to build.” Even when it comes to a psychiatric day clinic, “I cannot agree to the plans,” he said.

Above all, he was deterred by exceeding the area specified in the plan.

Kugler was the only one to raise his hand against the development plan change.

With 8: 1 votes, the committee cleared the way for the change.
