The "Liaba ohne" unpackaged store in Peiting has just celebrated its one-year existence, and the operators' dream has already come to an end.

The shop closes at the end of October.

Peiting

- the filled vessels and containers are neatly lined up on the shelves, the fresh organic fruit and vegetables catch your eye as soon as you enter. In the fresh counter, organic cheese and antipasti are waiting to be added to the shopping basket. The Weißenbachs have lovingly set up their shop in the heart of Peiting, a project that the family plunged into a year ago with full vigor. With "Liaba ohne" the aim was to offer a counterpoint to the normal supermarket, in which environmental considerations are capitalized with the sale of unpackaged, preferably regional products.

A year later, the Weißenbachs had to admit: their idea failed.

Not because of the concept, but because too few customers took up the offer.

The family invested a lot of energy, time and money in making their dream come true.

"But if it just isn't enough at the end of the month, it'll be difficult to continue," says daughter Stefanie Straub, who is helping out in the store these days with sales.

Peitinger unpackaged store "Liaba ohne" closes - pondering over a lack of sales

Her father Wolfgang Weißenbach, who mainly ran the business, has already looked for a new job.

Actually, he and his son Johannes had wanted to run the "Liaba ohne" shop together, but both had to quickly bury this plan due to a lack of sales.

Only with the support of the whole family was it possible to make it through the first year.

Stefanie Straub says that those who visited the shop regularly would have appreciated the offer.

“We had a lot of regular customers.” The people had come from Lechbruck.

Until the very end, the Weißenbachs did not want to give up hope, they believed in their dream.

At the end of September the one-year anniversary was celebrated, even the mayor stopped by to deliver congratulations.

The decision to give up the business was correspondingly difficult.

But why was it ultimately that the customers stayed away?

After all, unpackaged stores are very popular in other communities and cities.

The Weißenbachs also brood about this.

Was it because of the rural location or was it simply a lack of awareness?

Anyway: Despite the great disappointment about the end, one is grateful for the past year.

"It was a great time, we met a lot of great people."

"Liaba without" in Peiting: sale until October 28th

The news of the imminent closure has long since got around.

Customers express their regrets on Facebook.

“I think it's a shame.

Unfortunately for me from Wildsteig it is not the fastest way to get to you, but I always enjoyed going there and bought various things.

If I had a shop like yours on site, I would get a lot in there, ”writes one customer.

The sale will run until October 28th, until then the shop will be open from Tuesday to Thursday from 8.30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Then the chapter "Liaba without" ends.

It is uncertain how the retail space will continue.

According to the Weißenbachs, there has not yet been a new tenant.
